Yesterday we celebrated the annual Christopher Street Day, as the Pride Marches are called over here. Again, I enjoyed it very much. The first 90 minutes I was accompanied by my beloved who then had to leave unfortunately, just when party really got going.
Two brides, a flying unicorn, to dinosaurs saying "Eat homophobia" and LGBTQIA+ Rex, the official CSD 2018 logo on the CSD truck and my favourite drag queen, at the same time wonderfully eloquent political talker from my favourite truck: the very lefty "Emancipatory Block".
These were some slogans carried around that truck that I usually follow. I especially noticed a few signs expressing disgust with Europe's policy to shut refugees out by all means, even if that means to let people drown.
I am quite happy it got more political, even if compared to last year. Again the official truck featured a speech by a queer refugee, along with the slogan "We are here, we are queer, refugees are welcome here" and clear words about Germany's recent move to declare homo- and transphobic countries such as Maroco or Tunesia safe for queer refugees, which means that refugees either fleeing from or via these countries will be deported back to there. Also it was made clear that even though we now have got equal marriage, it's still not completely equal and that the current government is planning a few laws and so called "reforms" for trans and intersex people that are just changing the tiniest possible little bits, ans they are only because they are being forced to change them by our "supreme court". Let's be clear, Merkel did not want equal marriage, the opposition parties had been using election time to force it through. Merkel and her party just stood and watched, knowing they had no chance to further delay this uncomfortable issue without looking really bad just a few weeks before she had to be re-elected.
There was a lesbian couple who married today. One year ago we sensed it might be possible, those were exciting dasy. 2016 nobody thought this possible anytime soon, we had the Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgance performing "marriages" inside a pink churchlike air-building, dedicated to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
